Futuristic soundscapes, tension-building washes and dissonant, bowed atmospheres - Darklands is a hybrid synth that excels in tonal sound design and texture creation. It is part FM synthesizer, part ambience processor and capable of creating anything from chromatic percussion to intense atonal synth-scapes.
Darklands Controls & Quick Start
FM - Amount of frequency modulation & waveform select for all three operators. Choose between Sine, Square, Saw and White Noise.
INDEX - Modulation index for the primary operator.
OFFSET - Modulation Index for 2nd and 3rd oscillators.
SWELL - BPM synced lowpass filter modulation rate. Use this control to create rhythmic pulsations or turn it up to rapid modulations for an AM-type effect.
ORBIT - Carrier index ratio for 2nd and 3rd operators. Unlike a conventional FM synthesizer, this can be variably modified for some interesting overtones and FM artifacts.
DARKNESS - Secondary 4 pole low-pass filter for tonal adjustments.
SUB - Square wave sub-oscillator with -1 and -2 octave selection.
ONSET / TRAIL- Attack & release time
PLANETS - Space and stereo imaging effect. These behave as macro controls for delay offsets and room tone between the left and right channels. This allows one to control a large palette of spatial modulations within the stereo spectrum.
